Baba Dhanwant
Singh, Chairman of the Noor Vishav Roohani Charitable Sansthan, has been arrested from his residence here by the Hoshiarpur police on a charge of raping a minor girl at his dera about a year ago.
11 killed as bus
falls into khud
Shimla, August 29
As many as 11 persons were killed and 28 injured, 10 of them seriously, when a private bus fell into a khud near Nathpa in Kinnaur district, 180 km from here today.
The bus was on its way from Rekong Peo to Rampur. There were about 40 passengers on board when the mishap occurred.
BJP, Cong workers hurt in scuffle
New Delhi, August 29
Several BJP and Congress workers received minor injuries in a scuffle outside the residence of Congress president Sonia Gandhi here this afternoon.
The trouble started at about 2 pm, when around 70 BJP Mahila Morcha workers landed at Mrs Gandhi’s 10,
Janpath, residence in vehicles.

Governor Mukarji dead

Nirmal Mukarji, former Governor of
Punjab, died in New Delhi this evening after a prolonged illness. He was
81. The Governor of Punjab from December 8, 1989, to June 11, 1990,
Mukarji was an ICS officer.

of family jailed for murder
Hisar, August 29
The Additional District and Sessions Judge, Mr Dharam Pal, today sentenced 24 members of a family, including four women, for various jail terms in a murder case.
Six of them were sentenced to life imprisonment and 18 given a jail term for three years each.
