Hanspal dissolves dist, block units Chandigarh, August 23 This was revealed today by Mr H.S. Hanspal, President of the PPCC. Talking to TNS on the phone from Delhi, Mr Hanspal, who today dissolved all district and block units of the party, said he would start the process of reorganising the party soon. Mr Hanspal said only presidents and acting presidents of the respective district and block units would continue to work till further orders. When asked whether he has fixed any time frame for completing the task of reorganising the party, Mr Hanspal said he would take up this job in the first week of September. “I will consult the party high command and party President, Sonia Gandhi” before starting the exercise, he added. “I want small and compact district and block units of the party. It is necessary to tone up the party. Each district and block unit will be given time-bound tasks to strengthen the party in their respective areas”, he added. Mr Hanspal will first reorganise the state body of the party which means that a large number of existing general secretaries, secretaries, joint secretaries and other officer-bearers of the PPCC will be asked to quit to make way for the new team. “A number of existing general secretaries and other office-bearers have become ministers, MLAs. Naturally, they will have to demit organisational offices held by them”, Mr Hanspal said. After reorganising the state body, Mr Hanspal will focus on the district and block units. “At present most district and block units are oversized entities. These required to be trimmed,” said Mr Hanspal. The reorganisation exercise will provide Mr Hanspal took an opportunity to strengthen his base in the party. At present, Capt Amarinder Singh’s loyalists rule the roost in most district and block units. |
