Sukhbir’s
notice to
DGP Pandey Chandigarh, August 2 Mr Parmjit Singh Bajwa, counsel for Mr Badal, who issued the notice, said the Vigilance Bureau alleged in two press notes that a former Minister, Mr Sucha Singh Langah, had confessed to having allotted the contract for the construction of the Morinda by-pass for Rs 43 crore to Pears Company, in which Mr Badal’s brother-in-law was also a shareholder. Mr Bajwa said the bureau also alleged in the name of Mr Langah’s confession that Mr Badal had bought high value property in Chandigarh, including one house in Sector 5, and another for Rs 6 crore, to settle his family dispute. Denying the allegations, Mr Bajwa said the bureau “has been reduced to becoming a tool in Capt Amarinder Singh’s hands to abuse, malign, get false allegations levelled against the Badals to suit the designs of the political bosses by projecting them to be the confessions of Mr Langah”. Mr Bajwa also talked about the manner in which the Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court had adversely commented upon the conduct of the bureau. He said if the officers did not withdraw the allegations within seven days, the Badals had instructed him to institute legal proceedings against them. |
