Vice-President Krishan Kant died here today of a massive heart attack. He was 75 and is survived by his wife Suman, mother, two sons and a daughter.

Sinha-Powell talks ‘positive’
New Delhi, July 27
India today told the USA that it had been restrained and not indulged in aggressive talk against Pakistan despite the fact that Islamabad was continuing with its policy of cross-border terrorism. This was conveyed by External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha to visiting US Secretary of State Colin Powell, the spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs told reporters late tonight.

The invaluable 150-year-old hand-written book, “Bir Mrigesh”, authored by unsung, historian pandit Sher Singh, primary source of information of the rise and fall of “Sikh Raj” is missing from Bir Singh gurdwara at Naurangabad village. This is the largest book volume (runs into more than 2000 pages), ever written in ‘Gurmukhi’ script.
