Amarinder lacks wisdom, says Chautala
Tribune News Service

SAS Nagar, July 20
Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala today reacted strongly to the decision of the Punjab Government to file a review petition in the Supreme Court on the issue of the Sutlej-Yamuna Link Canal, saying it appeared that the Punjab Chief Minister, Capt Amarinder Singh, was not aware of facts and “lacked wisdom”.

The Chief Minister was talking to mediapersons after inaugurating a two-day seminar on “Surgery and Oncology” at the Fortis Heart Institute here today.

Commenting on the Punjab Chief Minister’s statement that Haryana was already getting more water than its due share, Mr Chautala quipped: “Yeh sab to woh budhi ke aabhav ke karan bol rahen hai. Supreme Court ke orders ka palan to karna hi padega.” Haryana had a right on its share of the Ravi-Beas waters and he knew well to safeguard the interests of the state, he added.

Asked to comment on the prevailing drought-like conditions, he said the state government was making all efforts to ensure adequate availability of water and electricity and special care was being taken of farmers. He had appealed to the people to use every drop of water and every unit of electricity judiciously.

Earlier, the Chief Minister declared that a herbal garden was being developed in an area of 185 acres at Chhurpur. The Chief Minister said a trauma centre was coming up at Karnal and three more trauma centres would be set up on different highways passing through the state as part of the efforts being made to improve health services on highways for accident victims.

He also said three cobalt centres would be set up in the state to treat those suffering from cancer.
