Coping with the empty nest
Juhi Bakhshi

SHE had been rather reluctant to move beyond the confines of her watery world. The doctors had forcibly pulled out this unwilling infant choking over her own chord. Her brother was a more willing entrant a year -and- a- half later. Together, the siblings made a roller-coaster out of their parents’ smooth lives for the next 24 years. Sleep, solitude, reading, movies, parties and friends were the immediate casualties. Their life became replete with hair- raising experiences that kept the young parents’ adrenaline and blood pressure on a continuous high. Coping with the empty nest

Beautiful? Oh, no!
Manohar Malgonkar

N the court trial in E. M. Forster’s A Passage to India, a young man stands accused. His only fault seems to be a common Indian trait: excessively exuberant hospitality. He invites a couple of English ladies to join him in a picnic to some nearby caves.

Idolatry is a natural thing
M.S.N. Menon
I
S IDOLATRY unnatural? Is it sinful? Is it wrong? Opinions differ. And yet it is the most natural thing. But, how? To imitate is natural. more so, to imitate nature. We learned to dance from the peacock; to prance from the deer; to warble from the mynah.

HOLLYWOOD HUES
Casting a spell of horror

F Jodie Foster was in panic street in Silence of the Lambs, they’ve chosen to put her there again, this time with Kirsten Stewart (as her daughter), both of them being at the mercy of three intruders.

Treating each role with shraddha
Nutan Sehgal
T
HE characters she plays don’t flow out of an assembly line. They are built in flesh and blood. Shraddha Nigam seems set for more substantial roles. When she appeared in the role of a mentally challenged girl people were amazed. The young lady attributes her success in Choodiyaan to her hard work.
