M.L. Kak profiles the trends currently sweeping across the vale of Kashmir.

TREND ONE: The lane leading to the bride’s house is illuminated. It is decorated with multicoloured arches. As more than 150 baraatis arrive they are seated on white sheets spread over silk carpets. By 8.30 p.m, dinner is served. First of all, cold drinks and mineral water bottles are served from willow baskets decorated with silver foil. They are followed by tramis (a large copper plate packed with rice and heaps of mutton) with provision for four guests to partake from each of them.

FTER a long, long time, Anil Kapoor is on a roll. As the roly-poly Raja of Badhaai Ho Badhaai, he has captured the imagination of the young (especially kids) and old alike, and from all indications, is ready to play a new inning in his screen career.

* What prompts Rajkumar Chakraborty to sit on a wall for 11 hours 5 minutes, completely still?

Bid aerated drinks a goodbye, taste the goodness of thandai

HE summer season sees the cola war getting hot...and hotter as the main soft drink companies engage in all sorts of gimmicks to promote their ‘’co.....ool’’ drinks. In this virtual onslaught of aerated drinks on our taste buds, the casualties have been none other than those centuries old, home-made summer concoctions.
