Work withdrawn from three Judges

Weeks after an inquiry into the alleged involvement of Punjab and Haryana High Court Judges in the Punjab Public Service Commission recruitment scam was initiated by the Chief Justice, work was withdrawn from Mr Justice Amar Bir Singh Gill, Mr Justice M.L. Singhal and Mr Justice Mehtab Singh Gill.

Bedi of Punjab and Sind Bank, arrested last week in the recruitment scam, spilled the beans when he was summoned by the enquiry team set up at the instance of the Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court to look into allegations of involvement of certain senior members of the judiciary in the scam.

Badal picks holes in CM’s theory

The justification given by the Punjab Chief Minister, Capt Amarinder Singh, today for revamping the intelligence wing of the Punjab police notwithstanding, the Shiromani Akali Dal President, Mr Parkash Singh Badal, and a senior BJP leader and former minister, Mr Balramji Dass Tandon, have assailed the government saying that the summary and highly controversial transfers of top ranking intelligence officials have blown the lid off the so-called crusade against corruption in the state.

Wildlife officials raid illegal zoo

After facing stiff resistance from managers of the alleged illegal zoo near Gurdwara Mehtiana Sahib, a joint raiding team of the state Wildlife and Forest Departments managed to break into the zoo premises today and found about 45 animals and birds kept illegally.
