VHP threatens Muslims, seeks ban on madarsaas
Hardwar, June 22
A crucial meeting of the VHP Central Advisory Board began on a belligerent note here this morning with its leader Ashok Singhal warning Muslims that “if they continue to take the country towards Partition” they would have to stay in refugee camps like in Gujarat.

500 killed in Iran quake
Qazvin, (Iran), June 22

A strong earthquake in northern Iran killed more than 500 persons and injured 1,100 as it devastated dozens of villages in a mountainous rural region. A local official said 500 persons were so far reported dead and another 1,159 injured by the quake which measured 6.3 on the Richter scale.

For nearly two years, high-profile convicts, including police officers, lodged in the Central Jail here, have been perpetrating a fraud in connivance with jail officials and staff of the Government Rajindra Hospital to be constantly out of jail at will by securing emergency medical parole by furnishing forged records, citing the serious condition of their near and dear ones.
