Britain increases visa services
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, June 21
Despite the cut in staff levels, the British High Commission here has decided to accept visa applications in the broad category for the ‘straightforward’ travellers.

A press note issued by the British High Commission here said the visa applications in the new category would be accepted from June 24 onwards. Earlier, it had stopped accepting the applications in many categories mainly due to the cut in the staff levels.

The commission here was accepting visa applications only in the ‘drop box’ category, from those travelling on an emergency basis and those intending to settle in the UK.

The note said since the starting of the new category, the visa seekers would be advised by the visa office whether their applications fall in the category or not. However, the more complicated applications would still not be accepted by it.

The reduction in the visa services had resulted following the British Government’s decision to cut the staff levels here owing to the prevailing situation between India and Pakistan.
