Challan against Sidhu in arms case Chandigarh, June 8 Sources informed that no private witness was mentioned in the case and all 19 witnesses mentioned in the challan belongs to the police department. As per the challan, the case against the accused under the Excise and Arms Act was registered on the complaint lodged by the DSP Vigilance, Mr Jora Singh. Mr Sidhu was produced in the court by the Punjab police about 2 p.m. Thereafter his counsel sought time to meet him. The magistrate granted him one hour for meeting the accused and directed the police to produce the accused in the court again at 3 pm when the accused was produced in the court, the UT police supplied a copy of the challan to his counsel. Sidhu’s counsel also made request before the court that the charges would be framed against the accused today only. After hearing the counsel’s plea, the magistrate adjourned the case registered against him under the Arms Act till June 12 for framing of charges and further remanded the accused in judicial custody till June 21. KHARAR: Mr Roshan Lal Chouhan, Judicial Magistrate, Kharar, on Saturday ordered that Ravi Sidhu’s brother Reetinder Singh, his mother Pritpal Kaur, his sister-in-law Ajinder Kaur and two of his colleagues, Gurdeep Singh Manchanda and Dr Shamsher Singh, should be summoned through a proclamation by July 6. The public prosecutor pleaded that the court had issued arrest warrants for them many times but they could not be arrested in spite of raids being conducted by the Vigilance Department. |
