Indian troops retaliate, kill 12 enemy soldiers
Jammu, May 30
People from 20 more villages in Poonch and Nowshehra were evacuated to safer places after the Pakistani troops again resorted to heavy mortar shelling today. From across Poonch, the Pakistani forces used artillery and mortar guns and more than six civilian houses were damaged in the shell explosion.

India today rubbished Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf’s statement that his country would unleash a storm if Indian forces were to set foot across the Line of Control, saying that statements like this showed that Islamabad “seemed to be prepared to stoop to any depths.”

PPSC case: Trivedi to defend Punjab

Additional Solicitor-General R.N Trivedi, along with an advocate, were today flown in for defending the Punjab Government’s stand in the PPSC recruitment scam even though Advocate-General Harbhagwan Singh had been appearing on behalf of the state till now and Punjab has a strong team of over 90 law officers “capable of arguing such cases”.
