2 Pak infiltrators shot dead

Jammu, May 7
Two heavily-armed Pakistani infiltrators were shot dead in two encounters near the Pindi and Kote Kuba border outposts (BOPs) in the Arnia sector along the international border of the Jammu region this morning.

A senior police officer said here that Indian border guards manning the Pindi BOP noticed some persons moving suspiciously near the border. When the security personnel challenged them they tried to flee while firing upon the securitymen. In the ensuing gunbattle, an infiltrator was killed.

In an encounter near the Kote Kuba BOP, security forces shot dead an armed Pakistani intruder while he was moving towards the international border in a bid to enter the country.

In another incident, members of the Village Defence Committee today gunned down two Pakistani militants in Dechhan area of Doda district.

Reports said the militants, Abu Abdullah and Abu Dujan, carried a reward of Rs 1.50 lakh on their head after they were involved in a series of massacres in various parts of the district.

The two rebels were trapped by the VDC members and in the ensuing encounter both were killed.

Meanwhile, three Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants hailing from Pakistan were killed in a fierce gunbattle with security personnel in south Kashmir last evening, Defence sources said today.Back
