TDP stops short of withdrawal
To demand Modi’s ouster in Parliament
Hyderabad, April 14
The TDP tonight stopped short of withdrawing support to the Vajpayee government over the continuance of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in office but said it would persist with its demand in Parliament and oppose fresh Assembly poll in the state.

No immediate poll in Gujarat, says BJP
New Delhi, April 14
As a sop to its angry ally, TDP, opposing fresh Assembly poll in Gujarat, the BJP tonight told the NDA that there was no proposal to go in for such an exercise immediately in the state, even as the coalition appealed to its key ally from Andhra Pradesh not to withdraw support to the Vajpayee government.

The Sikh militants who figure in India’s “most wanted” list have gone underground in Pakistan, even as the radicals displayed neither placards carrying inflammatory slogans nor distributed literature among the devotees during pilgrimage to Sikh shrines in Pakistan to mark the Baisakhi celebrations.

NASA to send teacher into space

The American space agency NASA is to complete the unfinished business of sending a teacher into space. Ms Barbara Morgan, from McCall, Idaho, has been scheduled to be blasted into orbit on a space shuttle and to visit the International Space Station in 2004.
