Pak troops fire at 42 Indian posts Jammu, April 3 The sources said the Pakistani troops, using small arms, fired on 35 outposts in the Kanachak, Khour, Akhnoor, Ramgarh, R.S. Pura, Suchetgarh, Samba and Arnia sectors of Jammu district since last night. Indian troops retaliated and the intermittent exchange of firing continued till this morning, they said, adding that a woman identified as Rani Devi of the Arnia sector was injured during the Pakistani firing. Exchange of firing also took place at seven places in the Hiranagar sector of the Kathua district. The Pakistani troops also fired some mortar shells from across the Line of Control in the Laam sector since yesterday, forcing the Indian troops to retaliate. SRINAGAR: At least six persons, including three militants, were killed in separate incidents in the valley since Tuesday while Rs 2.35 lakh were looted at gunpoint from a bank here on Wednesday. Two foreign militants of the Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit were killed in an encounter with the security forces in the Kreeri area of Baramula district on Tuesday. A policeman was also injured in the exchange of fire between the militants and the security forces. The seizure from the site include two AK rifles, eight magazines and 266 rounds. A police spokesman said three scooter-borne persons took away Rs 2.35 lakh at gunpoint from Ellaquaui Dehati Bank at Saidakadal here around noon on Wednesday. One of them identified as Ghulam Nabi Dar of Baramula was apprehended and handed over to the police. Unidentified militants shot a surrendered militant Mushtaq Ahmad Lone in the Awantipora area of Pulwama district in South Kashmir on Tuesday. In another incident, unidentified militants killed Taj Din Tikhree in Kupwara district on Wednesday, the police said. The police spokesman said in an incident of misfire by an SPO, one person was killed at Aishmuqam in Anantnag district on Tuesday. The SPO had been arrested. Harkat-ul-Mujahideen commander Fareed Ahmad Bhat, alias Usman, was shot by an SOG of the police during a search operation at Gul Bhar Colony in the Hyderpora area on Tuesday night. An AK assault rifle, two magazines and 42 rounds of ammunition were seized from the militant. The security forces unearthed a hideout and seized 10 kg RDX, a disposable rocket launcher, an AK rifle, a magazine, six grenades and 600 rounds at Kachama forest in Kupwara. |
