BJP defends govt steps to meet situation New Delhi, March 2 “I am much pained the way some of the political parties have reacted. The time now is for all political parties to sink differences and strengthen the hands of the government to restore peace and tranquility,” Mr Krishnamurthy told newspersons after the party’s central office-bearers meeting. “When the Gujarat Government is exerting utmost to put down violence with a heavy hand, even seeking help of the Army, it is most unfortunate that Congress spokesperson should accuse the state Government,” he said. Mr Krishnamurthy said when the circumstances and situation in Gujarat demanded strengthening the hands of the state Government in its efforts to bring normalcy, it was strange that Congress and Samajwadi Party spokespersons should try to weaken hands of the state government by making baseless allegations. “Can the Congress deny that some of the persons found connected with Godhra incidents, belong to the Congress Party? The BJP does not want to exploit this to downgrade the entire Congress party,” he said. The BJP President also announced party’s decision to observe March 9 as “Anti-Internal Terrorism Day” during which public meetings will be held across the country to educate people about the train incident in Gujarat on February 27. |
