THERE is nothing that can deter Ramandeep Singh Suri, who despite being visually handicapped has not only set high targets of achievement for him, but has also shown a path to others who have been looking for a ray of hope. In his latest venture, Ramandeep has set up a Website for those not so lucky in terms of having a perfect human body, devoid of any impairment. The Website, www.Handicappedonline.com, is a site of the handicapped, for the handicapped and by handicapped.

Ramandeep Suri, winner of the Young Entrepreneurs Award had always felt the need for a special forum for those physically less privileged, as their needs are different from others. It has taken him a little over a year to put up his thoughts into reality. In November 2000, Login Tribune discovered the great potential in Ramandeep and put his achievement on papers. Today again, his grit and determination has forced the Login to take note of yet another of his achievement.

"Searching a right life partner for a handicapped is always a difficult job", Ramandeep says. "We invite resumes from all people in the world having some physical impairment or people who are willing to marry with them" and put them on this Website that go a long way in meeting this objective".

On the Website, www.handicappedonline.com, people with some impairment have been categorised on the basis of their nationality, in an attempt to unite them as a global family. Other areas that the Website looks at are problems faced by the handicapped in searching for jobs. The site collects bio data of the handicapped persons, besides listing jobs availability for them. That is not all. The site also lists the addresses and contact information of the institutes and individuals working for the welfare of the handicapped.

What would be most encouraging to many with physical impairments are the success stories of some luminaries who have achieved success in life overcoming their unusual hurdles. "These stories will definitely provide a lot of encouragement and show new avenues to succeed in life; for the greatest gift that life offers is the opportunity to work hard", says Ramandeep.

He had told Login earlier, "I do not want others to face the same hardships that I have been subjected to being a handicapped person. Despite trying, I have been unable to come across a suitable matrimonial match for myself," with the Website in place, a lot of physically impaired are likely to benefit.

So great has his achievement been and so impressed was Mr. Arun Jaitley, Minister for Law and Justice, that he himself personally inaugurated the Website during his recent visit to Ludhiana for an election campaign. The minister acknowledged that the site was one of the best online facility for employment, placement, matrimonial, guidance and counselling for the physically impaired besides serving as live directory for national and international institutes for the disabled.

Ramandeep himself runs a very successful software development consultancy service in Ludhiana where his family migrated after his father's retirement over a decade ago. First-generation programmer in the family, he uses screen-reading software to listen to whatever he types. Unlike others, he cannot experiment on the keyboard, but knows exactly what to do while providing a software solution. This compulsion has made him nearly perfect in his field.

Raman Software finds a mention among some of the top software development consultancy services with a list of clients ranging from Punjab's milk conglomerate Verka to several top business houses of the region

To encourage the disabled for self-supporting enterprising endeavours, the Website would highlight all success stories of disabled luminaries throughout the world, Ramandeep says. Arun Jaitley has been chosen as a lifetime patron for the Website.
