Ansari admits to links with LeT

New Delhi, February 13
Aftab Ansari, one of the prime suspects in the shooting at the USIS in Kolkata, today admitted he had active links with various militant outfits, including the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT).

Highly-placed agency sources said here that Ansari, who is presently in the CBI custody, confirmed his links with the LeT, Jaish-e-Mohammed and Harkat-ul-Jehadi Islamia and also revealed that he had even visited their training camps in Pakistan.

“Though he has confessed of his links with such militant outfits, he still maintains that he had not indulged in any of the militant activities,” a CBI official, interrogating Ansari, said.

Ansari, stated that he had received a whopping sum of over Rs 50 crore from the four kidnappings in India, including of the Kolkata shoe baron Parthapratim Roy Burman.

Meanwhile, sources said the agency had submitted a detailed report to the CBI’s legal department to see whether POTO could be applied against Ansari in the case of smuggling of arms and ammunition, including RDX, into the country from Pakistan through Gujarat border. PTI
