Road links to Wazir Bagh and Jawahar Nagar from the Indira Gandhi airport road have been closed for pedestrians and vehicular traffic. Paramilitary troops are keeping a round-the-clock vigil on the areas around the venue. DMK finally moves HC New Delhi, January 24 Party candidate Vaigai Sekar filed the petition seeking a direction to the EC to defer the poll, alleging that 17,000 bogus names have been included in the electoral rolls of the constituency. Seeking the deletion of such names and preparation of the voters’ list afresh, Mr Sekar alleged that these names had been included in the voters’ list with “active connivance” of the administration to facilitate Ms Jayalalithaa’s smooth election to the state assembly. Mr Justice Manmohan Sarin, after brief hearing, posted the matter for January 29 without issuing any notice. The petitioner alleged that names, including those of minors, had been added to the electoral rolls with full backing of the administration. Ms Jayalalithaa filed her papers from Anandipatti today.
