Tribune News Service And Agency

New Delhi, January 21
Describing Pakistan’s action against terrorist and fundamentalist outfits as “courageous”, a top American counter-terrorism expert today said the USA would strive to encourage India and Pakistan to share “sufficient” information which could also enable Pakistan take follow-up action against these forces.

“We are trying to encourage both sides to ensure sharing of sufficient information for action and for Pakistan to follow up on its Commitments,” Mr Francis Taylor, Ambassador at large for counter-terrorism, told reporters here.

Mr Taylor, who is here leading the US delegation to the meeting of the Indo-US Joint Working Group (JWG) on terrorism, said both sides discussed future bilateral cooperation in the global campaign against terrorism, including cyber-terrorism.

Significantly, on the first day of the two-day JWG meeting the two countries also held discussions to launch a pilot project for border management to stem infiltration and a Joint Initiative on Cyber Terrorism.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs told reporters today that the Indo-US JWG was launching a pilot project to improve monitoring on the India-Pakistan international border as part of the enhanced border management.
