Musharraf bans LeT, Jaish-e-Mohammad

Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf tonight banned the Jaish-e-Mohammad and the Lashkar-e-Toiba, blamed for the terrorist attack on Parliament House, but ruled out handing over their leaders to India even as he announced a series of decisions to crack down on Islamic extremism.

Defence Minister George Fernandes today did not rule out sabotage as a reason for the fire that destroyed nearly 70 ammunition-laden trucks at Udasar near here last night, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said.

Cong declares all 106 candidates
17 new faces, 13 women in list; 11 seats left for CPI
New Delhi, January 12
The Congress today declared candidates for all 106 seats it is contesting in Punjab. The party has left 11 seats for the CPI. The list was declared today by AICC Treasurer Motilal Vora, who is in charge of Punjab affairs. Mr Vora said that the list had 17 new faces and 13 women.

Fire destroys Kasauli Club

Kasauli, January 12
The 122-year-old historic Kasauli Club building was razed to the ground in a devastating fire which broke out last night around 10.45 pm. This elite club which has members from all over the country today presented an ugly congregate of ash and burnt wood. Major Arun Kumar who resides near the club was the first to notice the flames.
