Vajpayee, Pervez meet informally
Interaction took place, says Musharraf
Pervez Musharraf Kathmandu, January 6
Even as Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee ruled out talks with Pakistan till Islamabad stopped cross-border terrorism, General Pervez Musharraf alluded to “informal interaction” taking place between the two sides and said: “We were not engaged in negotiations.”

Adopting a cautious approach, Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee today said that his short and “informal interaction” with Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf in Kathmandu at the end of the SAARC summit earlier in the day was only an exchange of pleasantries and was not on steps to defuse tensions between the two neighbours.

Pak UAV shot down in Poonch
Over 15 Pak troops killed, 10 bunkers destroyed
Jammu, January 6
One Pakistan Unmanned Aerial Vehicle was today shot down by an Indian fighter plane in the Poonch sector which was followed by a heavy exchange of mortar and artillery fire in which more than 15 Pak soldiers were killed and 10 bunkers were smashed.

“The deafening sound of the blast threw me on the pile of sugarcane I was thrashing. My first impression was that war had broken out. But when I saw the fire and the bodies blow up high in the air, I collected myself to rescue the victims,” said Sukhraj Singh (25), alias Nitu of Mahawa village.
