A city in the making

The real estate market hit rock bottom after 1995 and has maintained a horizontal trend ever since. No wonder, industrial, commercial and residential plots have found no buyers. The recession, however, has not hit the Industrial Model Township (IMT) coming up in Manesar, 17 km from Gurgaon. In fact, the queue for bookings is long and the prices are on an upward spiral, says Ashwini Bhatnagar

NE of the greatest philanthropists of the country and a well known maker of modern Haryana was Seth Chhaju Ram. As the present Haryana is famous for its three Lals — Devi Lal, Bansi Lal and Bhajan Lal; there was a time when the region had three popular Rams — Chhaju Ram, Chhottu Ram and Neki Ram. In the history of the country, especially Haryana, Seth Chhaju Ram has his unique place.

N the month of Ashwin (September-October), the Jat villages of Haryana witness the annual spectacle of Sanjhi. Even a casual spectator cannot miss the many faces of Sanjhi, put on mud plastered walls by village maidens. On the first day of Ashwin Shukla Pratipada, village maidens adorn walls with star-studded images of Goddess Sanjhi.
