3 militants killed in valley

Srinagar, August 6
At least six persons, including three militants, were killed in separate incidents, while one militant surrendered before security forces and one suspect was apprehended in the Kashmir valley since yesterday.

A police spokesman said here that Mohammad Wahid Khan of the Harkat-ul-Mujahideen was killed in an encounter with the SOG at Zakura on the outskirts of Srinagar last night. One pistol with a magazine and two rounds of bullets were seized from the site of the encounter.

The police said that Tariq Ahmad Rawloo, district commander of Al-mar was killed in an encounter with the SOG at Bemina here yesterday. One pistol with a magazine, one hand grenade, four rounds of bullets and a wireless set were found him.

The Hurriyat Conference spokesman, however, alleged that Tariq Ahmad was apprehended near the APHC office yesterday and later killed in a fake encounter. Demonstrations were held in Anantnag town of south Kashmir today when the body was taken to his house.

Two militants were killed in an encounter with security forces at Gundpora, Rampora in the Bandipore area of Baramula district today. The police said that the encounter ensued when security forces launching a search operation were fired upon by the hiding militants.

Unidentified militants shot dead Abdul Ghani Mir , village numberdar at Watalpora in Badgam district last night. The police today recovered the body of an unidentified person from Rambehara in the Shopian area of Pulwama district in south Kashmir.
