Tribune News Service

Patiala, August 4
Additional Director General of Police Daljit Singh Bhullar, who was sentenced to life imprisonment yesterday on the charges of murdering a non-resident Indian (NRI) business partner and two others and had been admitted in the intensive-coronary care unit (ICCU) of Government Rajindra Hospital, still complained of chest pain.

Doctors attending to the ADGP said he had been admitted to the hospital with unstable angina and had been treated for that. They said the ADGP was however, still complaining of chest pain. Sources said the ADGP had a history of diabetes and hypertension and was also afflicted with coronary heart disease.

Doctors said further action in the case of treatment of the ADGP would be taken by Dr Manmohan Singh, who is Head of the Cardiology Department. Dr Manmohan Singh is, at present, out of station and expected to be back by tonight.

Meanwhile, only attendants of the ADGP are being allowed entry into the ICCU. Security has been tightened around the area. Former security guards of the ADGP were also seen at the ICCU in civilian clothes even though the ADGP is in police custody. Other uniformed policemen deputed on request of the jail authorities have also been guarding him.

Meanwhile, the District and Sessions Judge, Mr S.N. Aggarwal, visited the Central Jail today.

One of the accused Agyapal Singh yesterday pleaded after being sentenced to life imprisonment that the accused should be provided B class facilities in the jail as all of them were educated. According to jail authorities, there is no provision for this under the jail manuals when rigorous imprisonment is awarded.
