“Chhari Mubarak” leaves for Amarnath

The holy mace of Lord Shiva, “Chhari Mubarak”, left Dashnami Akhara here today for the Amarnath Cave shrine on the last leg of the month-long Amarnath Yatra which concludes on August 4.

The Manipur Assembly, which is under suspended animation, will be dissolved after Parliament approves President’s rule in the North-Eastern state and “no attempt will be made to form any fresh government” before the poll, the Union Home Minister, Mr L.K. Advani assured the Lok Sabha today.

UTI chief contacted from PMO: Sena

Shiv Sena member Sanjay Nirupam, who made a scathing attack on the UTI functioning in the Rajya Sabha today, caused a furore when he mentioned telephone numbers of the Prime Minister’s Office and the Planning Commission at which former UTI Chairman P.S. Subramanyam was contacted between July 18 and July 22 allegedly regarding a cyberspace deal.

4 killed, 3 missing in flashfloods Dharamsala, July 30 Three girls were washed away in flashfloods and an equal number of Gujjars were reported missing last night due to heavy rain in the Chotta Bhangal area of Baijnath, the flashfloods caused a damage of over Rs 1 crore to private and public property. A labourer working at the Binwa power project at Utrala was also washed away in the flashfloods.
