virtually shifts to Agra

With the Prime Minister, Mr Atal
Behari Vajpayee, along with his senior Cabinet colleagues and
bureaucrats camping in Agra for the Indo-Pak summit, the nation’s
Capital has virtually shifted to the historic city which was once the
Capital of the Mughal emperors.

The anxiously awaited summit between
Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and Pakistan President Gen Pervez
Musharraf began here today raising hopes of a new beginning in the bilateral
relations between the two neighbours after a two-year hiatus in the wake of
Pakistan’s misadventure in the Kargil region of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Pakistan Government today clarified
that it had not given shelter to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, who is
wanted in India in connection with the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts.

ready for pact with India

In what could be the most important
political development in the post- cold war period, China has shed its
initial inhibitions to form a strategic triangle along with India and
Russia. “On many international issues, China, Russia and India have a
similar or near-identical stand and concerns,” Chinese Foreign Ministry
spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue said.
