New Delhi, July 12
Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf will now have at least one more hour to spend at the reception hosted by his High Commissioner where Hurriyat leaders are likely to have a meeting with him.

His itinerary officially released tonight says he will be at the Pakistan House from 1615 hours to 1830 hours instead of from 1730 hours to 1830 hours as planned originally.

His programme for a visit to the Nizamuddin Durgah originally slated around 1600 hours does not figure in the revised programme.

Barely 48 hours before the scheduled arrival of Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf , the Delhi Police and other security agencies are maintaining a strict vigil on the places on his earlier itinerary — Raj Ghat, Naherwali Haveli and Dargah Hazrat Nizamuddin.

Senior security officials monitoring the arrangements said the route that the VIP’s entourage is expected to take from the airport was also being screened.

From armed police constables to senior police officers in plainclothes, intelligence officials and counter-intelligence staff of the Delhi Police and central intelligence agencies are keeping a strict watch on every movement near these sensitive locations.

Activities of political groups and social organisations are also being kept under watch to prevent any protest during President Musharraf’s brief stay in the Capital.

A team of specialised security officials equipped with sophisticated gadgets have screened. the walled city area where Naherwali Haveli, the birthplace of General Pervez Musharraf, is located and Basti Nizamuddin.

Security personnel of the Central Police Organisations (CPO), including the National Security Guards (NSG), have been deployed in plainclothes around Naherwali Haveli and surrounding areas. Police personnel have been put on round-the-clock duty at the haveli since yesterday and the entry restricted.

The residents of the haveli have been asked by senior officials of the Delhi Police to advise their relatives and friends not to visit them till July 14 when General Musharraf will visit his birthplace. He will visit the haveli at 3 P.M.

Security personnel will be deployed on rooftops of surrounding buildings of Naherwali Haveli. All shops in nearby markets, cinema halls, restaurants and guest houses will be closed.

The residents of the area have been advised not to come out of their homes on the day when Gen Pervez Musharraf visits the haveli. They will be required to bolt their doors three hours before the visit of the General. There will be a virtual curfew-like situation in the area.

Anti-sabotage and explosive experts along with sniffer dogs will visit Naherwali Haveli, Raj Ghat and Dargah Nizamuddin to check these places again tomorrow before these are declared sanitised. Senior police and security officials will closely monitor the arrangements.

When Gen Pervez Musharraf visits Nizamuddin on July 14, only Gaddi Nasheen (Chief Controller of Dargah) will be present to escort him to the grave of the saint. He will be presented with flowers and sweets by Gaddi Nasheen to offer these at the grave of the saint.

Breakers have been installed at all entry points of Dargah Nizamuddin. Vehicles are not allowed to be parked inside the locality.

The routes to be taken by General Musharraf will be closed to traffic. However, roads will not be closed if Begum Musharraf visits Mehrauli or any other place alone. She will, however, be provided with adequate security .
