Resignation letter forwarded to govt
New Delhi, July 1
President K. R. Narayanan tonight forwarded Tamil Nadu Governor Fathima Beevi’s letter of resignation to the government for review. Earlier, Fathima Beevi had submitted her resignation to the President following Centre’s decision to recall her.

Beevi failed to save Constitution: Cabinet

The Centre today decided to recall Tamil Nadu Governor Fathima Beevi for what it called her “failure” to discharge her constitutional obligations in the wake of the arrest of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and two Union Ministers in Chennai yesterday.

NDA team to recommend President’s rule
Chennai, July 1
A three-member NDA team led by its convener George Fernandes, which made an assessment of the current political situation in Tamil Nadu, will recommend President’s rule in the state to Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee.

Political leaders estranged from kin

It is not as smooth as meets the eye as far as the domestic affairs of some political leaders in the Kashmir valley are concerned. Ms Shabnam Lone, daughter of the senior Hurriyat Conference leader, Mr Abdul Gani Lone, has fallen apart from her brother, Mr Sajjad Lone, who is married to the daughter of JKLF supremo Amanullah Khan.
