Chandigarh, June 26
A top Khalistan ideologue, Dr Jagjit Singh Chohan , is on his way to Delhi, according to informed sources.

Sources said that he boarded a British Airways flight from London late this evening and was expected to reach Delhi in the small hours of Wednesday. He is said to be accompanied by a crack team of Scotland Yard and representatives of Amnesty International.

Sources revealed that officers of an Indian intelligence agency have been informed about Mr Chohan’s flight from London to India.

Unconfirmed sources said that certain officials of the Indian intelligence agencies are also accompanying Dr Chohan to keep watch on him. Dr Chohan is travelling as a wheelchair passenger.

It may be mentioned that the Indian High Commission in London had handed over the one-way travel documents to Dr Chohan on June 21, paving the way for his return to India after about two decades.

A number of cases are pending against him in India, especially in Punjab, for propagating secessionism.

Warring villagers strip women
Our Correspondent

Fazilka, June 26
Members of two warring factions in border village of Neolan in this subdivision allegedly paraded naked the womenfolk of opposite groups due to a row over a reported love-affair between a boy and a girl of the two groups of the same village.

According to the FIR lodged with the Sadar police by Jeeto Bai of Neolan village, she was stripped naked by Joginder Singh and Mohinder Singh, both brothers, and their wives Nikko Bai and Chindo Bai, respectively, of the same village when she along with her unmarried sister-in-law was returning to the village after working in the fields on Saturday. They were chased to the village and the matter was reported to the police on Saturday.

However, Jeeto Bai’s husband Phuman Singh along with his brothers Milkha Singh and Veer Singh accompanied by Bachan Singh, Kala Singh, Mohinder Singh, Rulia Singh, Hari Singh, Surjit Singh, Piara Singh, his wife Kakko Bai and Pasho Bai allegedly pounced on Nikko Bai, stripped her naked, paraded her and kept her confined at the house of Rulia Singh from where she was rescued by villagers after a few hours.

According to the FIR lodged by Nikko Bai on Monday with the Sadar police, the 10 accused snatched some money belonging to her, removed her ear-rings, humiliated her and beat her up.

According to the police, the cause of enmity between the two groups is stated to be that a brother-in-law of Jeeto Bai had allegedly made an attempt to molest Nikko Bai a few days back while she was asleep. According to the villagers, the love-affair between a son of Arror Singh and a daughter of Joginder Singh is stated to be the cause of enmity between the two factions. The Sadar police has registered a case under Sections 353, 323 and 506 against 14 marked accused. All accused are stated to be absconding.
