New Delhi, June 21
President K.R. Narayanan tonight sent a message of good wishes to Gen Pervez Musharraf on his assumption of office as President of Pakistan, informed sources said. This is the first message sent to General Musharraf by anyone from the Government in India.

2 Lashkar commanders shot

The security forces have gunned down two top commanders of the Pakistan-based Lashker-e-Toiba outfit, including its supreme commander, in the valley, a defence spokesman said today.

Govt agrees not to merge paddy grades
New Delhi, June 21
The government today agreed not to merge the two grades of paddy. It would benefit the farmers in getting the right price for their produce. The Centre also assured the farmers of Punjab and Haryana that their interests would be protected on the minimum support price issue.
