New Delhi, May 31
The BJP today approved names of Punjab unit Vice President Bibi Gurcharan Kaur and Uttar Pradesh party President Kalraj Mishra for the forthcoming Rajya Sabha elections.

BJP General Secretary Narendra Modi said in a statement that the Central Election Committee has approved the names of Bibi Gurcharan Kaur and Mr Kalraj Mishra as party candidates for the Rajya Sabha.

Bibi Gurcharan Kaur was preferred over others as the BJP high command did not want to send wrong signals as Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal had left the seat for the party and the party was more than keen to nominate a Sikh from the state, sources said adding that moreover, she is also a victim of militancy.
