In a severe blow to AIADMK supremo J. Jayalalitha’s political fortunes, her nomination papers in all the four constituencies, including Andipatti and Krishnagiri, in the coming assembly elections in Tamil Nadu were today rejected in view of her conviction in a corruption case.

Three security personnel and a child were among six persons killed and 24 injured in separate incidents of violence in Kashmir since last evening. A militant of the Lashkar-e-Toiba was apprehended and 35 kg of explosives were recovered from him.

HC acquits Talwandi’s son
Chandigarh, April 24
In a complete reversal of events, Ranjit Singh, son of SGPC chief J. S. Talwandi, sentenced to life imprisonment in a 1996 murder case, was acquitted by a Division Bench of the Punjab and Haryana High Court here today.

Having a darshan of the historic gurdwaras of Delhi making an offering in them or listening to the Gurbani are now only a click away. “It is an attempt to make gurdwaras more accessible to the people and enable them to have darshan at their convenience,” the president of the Delhi Gurdwara Management Committee, Mr Avtar Singh Hit, told The Tribune.

Institute suspends minister’s son

The SGPC-run Guru Ram Dass Institute of Medical Sciences today suspended four MBBS students, including Amarpal Singh, son of Dr Rattan Singh, Animal Husbandry Minister, for allegedly creating a ruckus in the boys hostel on Thursday night.

5 killed, 29 hurt in truck-tanker collision
Chaugitti (Jalandhar), April 24
Five Radha Soami followers were killed and 29 others’ including 26 women, injured in a head-on collision between a mini-truck and a tanker at the Chaugitti railway overbridge here this morning.
