Secularism will be projected, says Badal
Patiala, April 13
Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, inaugurating the bicentenary celebrations of the coronation of Maharaja Ranjit Singh at Punjabi University here today, said the message of secularism preached by the last sovereign king would be spread throughout the country during the celebrations and that he would also be accorded national recognition with his statue being installed outside Parliament.

Writers turned back from Wagah

About 50 eminent writers, intellectuals and artistes scheduled to attend the World Punjabi Conference being held in Pakistan from April 13 to 16 on the invitation of the World Punjabiat Foundation were returned from the Wagah border yesterday. Those who have been turned back include Gurdial Singh, a Jnanpith award winner, Jigar Jalandhari, a Shiromani Urdu poet and Anup Virk, this year’s Shiromani poet.
