Govt invites Kashmiri militants for talks
Pant to initiate dialogue * Hurriyat calls it drama
New Delhi, April 5
Declaring that Mr K.C. Pant will hold the dialogue on Kashmir issue, the government today invited Kashmiri militant organisations and the Hurriyat Conference for talks without pre-conditions.

The CBI today arrested Madhavpura Cooperative Bank Chairman Ramesh Parekh for his role in the Rs 137-crore pay order scam case in which big bull Ketan Parekh is the prime accused, agency sources said here.

Badal to study militants’ offer to join mainstream

Neither the Central Government nor the Punjab Government is averse to any proposal which strengthens peace and communal harmony, says the Punjab Chief Minister, Mr Parkash Singh Badal, maintaining that his government will consider any proposal from any militant or his organisation offering to join the mainstream.

Irina BrarSeventeen-year-old Irina Brar of Chandigarh has emerged as the Sri Lanka Open Amateur Ladies Golf champion. She clinched the trophy after defeating another Chandigarh girl, Parneeta Garewal, in a 36-hole decider on the 35th hole at Kandy in Sri Lanka yesterday.

Clinton to visit Jaipur
 Jaipur, April 5
Former US President Bill Clinton will visit Jaipur for two days from April 8. Mr Clinton, who is arriving here on a private visit, would stay at Hotel Raj Vilas, where he was put up during his last visit to the state, an official press note said here today.

Sikh relics lying in state of neglect
Amritsar, April 5
The 172-year-old gold plates, domes and embossed pictures of the legendary Maharaja Ranjit Singh period, which were removed during the “restoration of the Golden Temple”, have been lying in a state of ‘neglect’ in the Darbar Sahib complex as the SGPC has not come forward to take possession of the invaluable relics from the UK-based Guru Nanak Nishkam Sevak Jatha which completed the “gold plating sewa” two years ago.
