Rs 702.5 cr for Chandigarh

The total expenditure for the Union Territory of Chandigarh for the year 2001-02 has been fixed at Rs 702.50 crore.

This is higher than the revised estimates for 2000-01 of Rs 682.20 crore. The budgeted estimate for 2000-01 was Rs 676.64 crore.

Of the total expenditure, Rs 682.27 crore would constitute revenue expenditure while the remaining Rs 20.23 crore would constitute capital expenditure.

The revenue expenditure for 2001-02 is lower by Rs 23.27 crore than the revised estimates of 2000-01. The revised estimates of revenue expenditure for 2000-01 is Rs 658.90 crore.

The capital expenditure for 2001-02 shows a marginal decrease of Rs 3.07 crore than the revised estimate of 2000-01. The revised estimates of capital expenditure for the previous fiscal year is Rs 23.30 crore, marginally higher than Rs 20.64 crore of last year.

On the receipts side, total revenue for 2001-02 is estimated to be Rs 544.82 crore, up by Rs 25.79 crore of the revised estimates of 2000-01.

The Budget for 2001-02 estimates a marginal increase in tax revenue than the revised estimates of Rs 15.64 crore.

The tax revenue for 2001-02 is estimated to be Rs 291.57 crore.

The non-tax revenue for the year 2001-02 is estimated to Rs 253.25, up from Rs 243.10 crore the revised estimate of 2000-01.
