Bandh cripples life in Tripura
Agartala, February 22
Life was crippled in Tripura on Thursday following a 48-hour bandh called by the Congress in protest against the killing of party MLA Madhu Sudhan Saha on Tuesday. Mr B.L. Vohra, DGP, said the situation was under control and paramilitary forces had been deployed in the sensitive areas. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Wednesday decided to give CBI the charge to probe the murder case. UNI

Probe into attack on Deve Gowda's wife
Bangalore, February 22
Taking serious note of the acid attack on former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda’s wife and daughter-in-law, the Karnataka Government on Thursday ordered a judicial probe into the incident by a sitting High Court Judge. Mr Deve Gowda’s wife Chenamma and daughter-in-law Bhavani were attacked at their native village Haradanahalli in Hassan district on Wednesday. Announcing the decision, Home Minister M. Mallikarjun Kharge said the main accused, Lokesh, son of Mr Deve Gowda’s brother, had been arrested. PTI
