Boy rescued after 8 days
AHMEDABAD, Feb 4 — Many are still looking into the debris for quake survivors even though more than a week has passed. It was a miracle when a boy was found alive inside a well by rescuers in Bachchau, the day the local authorities called off rescue missions.

Musharraf attacks India on Kashmir

ISLAMABAD, Feb 4 — Two days after he telephoned Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee to express sympathies for victims of the Gujarat earthquake, Pakistani military ruler Gen Pervez Musharraf today launched an attack on India accusing it of “oppressive” rule in Kashmir and demanded permission to Hurriyat leaders to visit Pakistan.

Contact established with miners
DHANBAD, Feb 4 — In a dramatic turn of events, Navy divers today established contact with miners trapped in flooded Bagdihi colliery since Friday noon and were said to be safe, Coal India sources said.

18 killed in 2 road mishaps
HOSHIARPUR, Feb 4 — Eighteen persons, including eight baraatis, were killed and 38 were injured in two different road accidents, one near Dhoot Kalan Dosarka village on the Hoshiarpur-Mukerian road and other near Chaggran village on the Hoshiarpur-Jalandhar road near here today.

Army, Punjab lock horns
Location of ammunition depots
CHANDIGARH, Feb 4 — The Punjab Government and the Army have locked horns over the location of several ammunition depots in the state. While the state government reportedly wants the Army to shift the ammunition depots located in the state away from crowded places, the Army authorities say that such a move is not feasible.

CHAK 5 LNP (Sriganganagar), Feb 4 — Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today apologised for selling property of the Rajasthan Government located along Bikaner Canal in the state and said steps would be initiated to return the money along with interest soon.
