NEW DELHI, Dec 14 — The Opposition motion seeking the removal of three Cabinet Ministers — Mr L.K. Advani, Mr Murli Manohar Joshi and Ms Uma Bharti — and disapproving the stand taken by the Prime Minister, Mr Atal Behari Vajpayee, on the Ayodhya issue was today rejected by 291 votes to 179 in the Lok Sabha.

Govt declares postal strike illegal
Unions not to withdraw stir
NEW DELHI, Dec 14 — The government today declared the ongoing indefinite strike by six lakh postal employees “illegal” and warned of action against the striking employees under the Industrial Disputes Act.

Hooda re-elected HPCC chief
Chandigarh, Dec 14 — Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda, the incumbent President of Haryana unit of the Congress, was today elected as the chief of the HPCC for a second term. He was declared elected unopposed by Mrs Sukhbans Kaur Bhinder, Chairperson of the state election authority.

Procurement staff on the warpath
CHANDIGARH, Dec 14 — Thousands of field staff of the official foodgrain procurement agencies in Punjab have threatened to go on an indefinite strike from Monday if the government does not come to their rescue and bail them out of the “food mess” which, they allege, has been created by Punjab ministers and MLAs belonging to the ruling SAD-BJP alliance.
