hoever coined the phrase “forgive and forget” had obviously never visited Bollywood. Here, it appears, enemies are forever. While stars change their love interests with unnerving regularity, they cling to their pet hates with a vengeance. The Kapoors and Devgans are a case in point. Things have been less-than-cordial between them ever since Anil Kapoor snubbed Ajay Devgan at the premier of Phool Aur Kante. The fact that Ajay reportedly celebrated the failure of Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja, did little to calm tempers.

There could be no Bon(ey)homie

Whoever coined the phrase “forgive and forget” had obviously never visited Bollywood.

Just when everyone had given up hope of a truce, Boney Kapoor signed Kajol to star in his yet unnamed home production, a few months ago. The fact that Kajol had given Boney a written commitment seemed to imply that Ajay did not mind.

However, truce was not to be. Kajol’s sudden and unceremonious exit from the film has once again sounded the bugle for the resumption of hostilities. Boney replaced Kajol with Karisma Kapoor. The reason that was given was that Kajol did not have dates for Boney as she was busy with Karan Johar’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham. Not many seem to be convinced, though. Some feel that this was just another episode in the Devgan-Kapoor war. And this time it was Ajay who had shown the Kapoors down.

Another possible reason being given is that Ajay was not too comfortable with the idea of Kajol working with Shah Rukh Khan, whom Boney wanted to play the lead opposite Kajol. Maybe he was afraid their on-screen chemistry might spill off-screen as well! Of course, it is a different matter altogether that Shah Rukh, too, walked out of the movie. But whatever the reason, the result is for all to see. The hatchet shows no signs of being buried. In an industry where most stars do not have even a nodding acquaintance with friendship and loyalty, it is, indeed, ironical that they choose to hate with such persistence.

Wedding bells for Ash?

The wedding bug has, it appears, bit Bollywood. Close on the heels of the news of Akshay Kumar’s engagement to Twinkle Khanna and Hrithik Roshan’ soon-to-take-place marriage with Suzzane Khan, one hears rumours that Aishwarya Rai and Salmaan Khan were going to tie the knot this month. The ceremony will be a secret one since Ash’s parents, apparently, do not approve of the match. Nothing has, however, been confirmed so far.
