Bush camp asks Gore to concede defeat

Democrat Vice-President Al GoreRepublican George W. Bush WASHINGTON, Nov 10 — Republican George W. Bush’s lead over Democrat Vice-President Al Gore has been pegged at 327 votes after a final unofficial recount in Florida, prompting the Bush camp to ask Mr Gore to concede defeat but the outcome of the US presidential election will not be known till next week as several thousand postal ballots are expected from abroad.

Bibi takes part in nagar kirtan procession
AMRITSAR, Nov 10 — The SGPC chief, Bibi Jagir Kaur,
today made her first public appearance at the Golden Temple after the Patiala Bibi Jagir Kaur participates in a nagar kirtan procession. Sessions Judge stayed her arrest till Monday. Bibi arrived at the information office of the Golden Temple at about 11.30 a.m. After exchanging greetings she proceeded to the temple to offer prayers.

Govt ‘apathy’ stunts academic growth
KARNAL, Nov 10 — Academic growth of colleges in Haryana is being stymied by the “apathetic attitude” of the state government. Almost all non-government colleges in the state, numbering about 100, are facing a financial crunch. A majority of these colleges have raised loans from different sources to meet their monthly and day-to-day expenditure.
