WASHINGTON, Nov 7 — The result of the US Presidential election was up in the air again today when Florida election officials ordered a ballot recount in the key state.

NEW DELHI, Nov 7 — In a bid to mollify ruffled feathers in the BJP and restore balance with respect to the newly created state of Uttaranchal, Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee reinducted Ms Uma Bharti along with a first timer in Major-Gen S.C. Khanduri (retd) in his Council of Ministers here this evening.

Strictures passed in Veerappan case
NEW DELHI, Nov 7 — A three-Judge Bench of the Supreme Court headed by Mr Justice S.P. Bharucha today set aside the orders of the designated courts at Mysore and Chennai relating to the withdrawal of TADA and NSA charges against the associates of forest brigand Veerappan, who set it as a precondition for the release of Kannada matinee idol Dr Rajkumar in his captivity since the past 100 days.

Rao’s jail term suspended
NEW DELHI, Nov 7 — The Delhi High Court today suspended the three-year jail sentence of former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao and his Cabinet colleague, Mr Buta Singh, in the JMM MPs bribery case, pending disposal of their appeal, despite strong opposition from the CBI.

Farmers, wildlife staff lock horns
HARIKE (Ferozepore), Nov 7 — A fresh move of the wildlife staff to prevent encroachments inside the Harike bird sanctuary here has evoked protests from a section of local farmers, who have been tilling the land inside the restricted area for years together.
