PCC posts elude Bhajan group FATEHABAD, Nov 6 — The recent organisation election of the Congress for the block presidents, district delegates and delegates of the HPCC have witnessed a complete wash-out of the faction owing allegiance to former Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Bhajan Lal, in this district. The Hooda-Selja faction has been able to corner all in this district. A glance at the list of those who emerged “winners” in the “election” held in the district Congress office last week show that none of the office-bearer elected belongs to the Bhajan Lal camp. In fact there was no election in real sense. According to sources, the Hooda-Selja camp that enjoys the majority support of active members of the party from this district managed to divide all posts among its members after arriving at a consensus in presence of the party observer. Mr Arvind Sharma, a staunch supporter of former union minister Ms Selja has been elected HPCC delegate from Fatehabad block while Mr Vijay Chowdhary, a long time supporter of a former state Congress chief Mr Birender Singh was elected block president. Mr Chowdhary, too, has joined the Hooda, Selja faction now. From Bhattu Kalan block, Ms Selja has been elected. Bhattu Kalan is a part of her parliamentary constituency Sirsa. Captain Banwari Lal, a supporter of the former union minister, is the new block president. Mr Jai Pal Singh Lali, again an old-time supporter of Ms Selja, has been elected for the HPCC from Rattia block. One of his lieutenant Mr Ashok Garg has elected block president for the second time in a row. Mr Net Ram and Mr Kishan Mongia who have been elected HPCC delegate and block president, respectively, from Bhuna block are also Selja supporters. From Tohana block of the district, Mr Paramveer Singh a son of former Haryana minister Mr Harpal Singh is the HPCC delegate. Mr Nathu Ram is the block president. Mr Harpal Singh too, is Hooda loyallist. Mr Vinod Bhayana and Mr Parkash Chander Gupta who have been elected HPCC delegate and block president, respectively, from the Fatehabad-Tohana-Hansi city block are also Hooda loyalists. Besides these the formalities for the elections for 36 district delegates (six from each block) have also been completed. Though the list has not yet been declared the sources say that all 36 delegates owe their allegiance to the Hooda-Selja faction. The Bhajan Lal faction which
wielded a lot of influence in the area, has been completely sidelined in the district. The ancestral village of the former Chief Minister, Mohamadpur Rohi, falls in this district and his nephew Mr Dhura Ram is a zila parishad member here. Interestingly, neither Mr Dhura Ram nor any of his supporters made much efforts in the organisation elections. The elections for the district president and other office-bearers of the DCC were postponed till the election for the state Congress chief. |
