Badal’s kin in recast SAD
Bibi remains working committee member

CHANDIGARH, Nov 5 — The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President, Mr Parkash Singh Badal, has reorganised the party, making his son Mr Sukhbir Singh one of the general secretaries of the party.

As per the details released by the party Secretary, Mr Kirpal Singh Badungar, to the Press today, Mr Badal’s son-in-law, Mr Adesh Partap Singh Kairon, has been inducted as member of the working committee. One of his nephews, Mr Manpreet Singh Badal, has been nominated as adviser.

The list also shows that Bibi Jagir Kaur remains a member of the working committee.

According to Mr Badungar, this reshuffle and nomination of advisers etc was undertaken by Mr Badal following a general delegates’ session on March 3.

Under the new dispensation, Mr Parkash Singh Majitha, a minister without portfolio, remains Patron of the party. The other office-bearers include, besides the president, three senior vice-presidents, two vice-presidents, one secretary-general, four general secretaries, one secretary and 22 members of the working committee. In addition, there are 23 permanent special invitees and 21 advisers.

Care had been taken to give representation to all sections of society. The first meeting of the reconstituted working committee would be held once Mr Badal returned from the USA, he said.

The details are as follows: Patron — Mr Parkash Singh Majitha; President — Mr Parkash Singh Badal; Senior Vice-Presidents — Mr Jagdev Singh Talwandi, Mr Ranjit Singh Brahmpura and Mr Gurdev Singh Badal; Vice-Presidents — Mr Amarjit Singh Bhatia, and Mr Sujjan Singh; Secretary-General — Mr Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa; General Secretaries — Mr Balwinder Singh Bhunder, Capt Kanwaljit Singh, Mr Baldev Singh Mann and Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal; and Secretary — Mr Kirpal Singh Badungar.

The working committee members are: Bibi Jagir Kaur, Mr Charanjit Singh Atwal, Mr Sewa Singh Sekhwan, Mr Tota Singh, Mr Nirmal Singh Kahlon, Mr Adesh Partap Singh Kairon, Mr Swaran Singh Phillaur, Mr Ujagar Singh Rangretta, Dr Upinderjit Kaur, Mr Natha Singh Dalam, Raja Narinder Singh, Mr Chiranji Lal Garg, Mr Kabul Singh, Mr Charanjit Singh Walia, Mr Amrik Singh Aliwal, Mr Ajaib Singh Mukhmailpur,  Mr Sampuran Singh Cheema, Mr Hari Singh Zira, Mr Raghujit Singh, Mr Onkar Singh Thapar, Mr Parkash Chand Garg and Mr Avtar Singh Makkar.
