29 killed, 46 hurt in valley
4 constables die in blast at Baramula
SRINAGAR, Nov 4 — Four police personnel were killed and 26 others injured when a blast took place inside the Police Training Centre in Baramula district last evening, while 25 others, including 17 militants, were killed and 20 others injured in separate incidents in Jammu and Kashmir since yesterday.

Nishan Singh surrenders
Gets nine days' police remand
NEW DELHI, Nov 4 — Nishan Singh, the Personal Security Officer of the SGPC President, Bibi Jagir Kaur, a key “eyewitness” in the Harpreet Kaur death case, today surrendered before the CBI at its Headquarters here.

Jadeja’s defence unconvincing
NEW DELHI, Nov 4 — A nervous and ill-prepared Ajay Jadeja today made attempts at the Indian Women’s Press Corps here to come clean on the allegations of match fixing levelled against him by the Central Bureau of Investigation in its report presented to the government earlier this week.

ICC team meets CBI officials
NEW DELHI, Nov 4 — A two-member team of the International Cricket Council met Central Bureau of Investigation officials here today to get first-hand information about the betting and match-fixing probe undertaken by it, which has resulted in the suspension of five Indian cricketers, including former Indian captain Mohammed Azharuddin.

VDCs revived to check robberies
JALANDHAR, Nov 4 — To counter the increasing crime on the country-side, the Jalandhar police has revived the Village Defence Committees and formation of “takkar groups” (resistance groups). It has involved residents of lone houses and settlements around villages in order to offer resistance to armed gangs of robbers.
