Sitaram Kesri dead

NEW DELHI, Oct 24 (PTI) — Former Congress President Sitaram Kesri died at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences here tonight after prolonged illness, AIIMS spokesman B.K. Dash said. Kesri breathed his last at 2330 hours.

Kesri was 84.

He was admitted to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital here on October 12 with a fractured leg but was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit the following day after he developed breathing problem. He was put on a life support system. The octogenerian leader was shifted to AIIMS on October 18 for further treatment.

Mr Kesri is survived by son Amarnath and daughters Malati and Madhuri. His wife had died a few years ago. Mr Amarnath, his son and one of the daughters were there by the bedside when Kesri died. His body will be given to his family tomorrow.
