NEW DELHI, Oct 15 — In a major political victory, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today succeeded in getting a Rs 350-crore relief package from the Centre for the state farmers hit by damaged paddy crops due to unseasonal rains.

Farmer commits suicide
LUDHIANA, Oct 15 — Yet another farmer died under mysterious circumstances allegedly after feeling depressed over the failure to sell his paddy at the desired price.

‘Rail roko’ stir continues
 SUNAM, Oct 15 — Rail Traffic between Jakhal-1-Dhuri stations on the Ludhiana-Hisar section remained suspended here since Friday as the activists of the CPI, the CPM, the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ekta) and paddy growers blocked rail traffic at the Chhajli railway station, 6 km from here.

30 kg RDX seized, 4 arrested
NEW DELHI, Oct 15 — The Central Bureau of Investigation claims to have averted major militant attacks in Punjab, Delhi and other parts of North India with the seizure of 30 kg RDX and a large number of arms and ammunition. Four persons have been arrested in this connection.

Five more killed in Bihar
BIHARSHARIF, Oct 15 — Barely a day after the massacre of 11 members of a Yadav family, five persons belonging to a backward community were killed and two others seriously injured at Bhojpur village in Nalanda district last night, the police said today.
