10 Pak troops killed

SRINAGAR, Sept 20 — An Army personnel was killed and five others were injured when Pakistani troops fired from across the border in Jammu and Kashmir yesterday, a Defence Ministry spokesman said.

NEW DELHI, Sept 20 — The Election Commission today took a strong view on reports that the Punjab Chief Minister, Mr Parkash Singh Badal, had tried to circumvent the model code of conduct by having a helipad constructed outside the Sunam constituency limits.

Shimla Mayor, 15 others quit Cong
SHIMLA, Sept 20 — The mayor and 15 other councillors of the Congress-controlled Shimla Municipal Corporation resigned from the party today to protest against the alleged rigging of the organisational elections in Himachal Pradesh by the anti-Virbhadra Singh group.
