Kumaramangalam still critical NEW DELHI, Aug 17 — The condition of Union Power Minister, Mr P.R. Kumaramangalam, continued to be critical today with multiple organ failure and unstable blood pressure and he remained on life support systems, doctors attending him at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) said. The medical bulletin issued by the AIIMS authorities said “Kumaramangalam’s condition continues to be critical. His blood pressure is unstable with multiple organ failure. There has been no improvement in his condition. He is still being supported by life-supporting systems.” Meanwhile, the Union Minister for Rural Development, Mr Sunderlal Patwa, was today admitted to the AIIMS as he complained of uneasiness in the Rajya Sabha. He has been admitted to a private ward of the cardio-neuro centre of the hospital and kept under observation, doctors said, adding “his condition was stable.” Mr Patwa complained of “lack of coordination between his right hand and right leg.” The Union Minister was moved to the AIIMS after he was given first aid in Parliament. A team of doctors was constantly monitoring the condition of Mr Kumaramangalam in the intensive care unit, where he had two cardiac arrests yesterday. “Kumaramangalam’s clinical report was reviewed by specialist faculty committee constituted by the AIIMS,” the status report signed by Medical Superintendent Prof R.K. Sharma said. The Union Health Minister, Mr C.P. Thakur, who is closely monitoring the situation, visited the hospital to have a first hand knowledge of the condition of his Cabinet colleague. The Union Power Minister is suffering from severe
septicemia and multiple organ failure. |
