 CHANDIGARH, Aug 6 — The Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) has decided not to withdraw support to the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance and its lone Cabinet Minister, Mr Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, will not resign.		 Mr Parkash Singh Badal, President of the Shiromani Akali Dal, and other senior party leaders at the Political Affairs Committee meeting at Punjab Bhavan in Chandigarh on Sunday.

1 dies in Naina Devi stampede
BILASPUR, Aug 6 — Banto Devi (60) of Mandoli village in Patiala district of Punjab was killed and 50 other pilgrims were injured when a weak railing collapsed due to heavy rush of devotees at Naina Devi shrine, 75 km from here, today.

War on against water hyacinth
HARIKE (Amritsar), Aug 6 — After flushing out Pakistan-sponsored terrorists from Kargil, the Army has declared yet another war. This time the battle is being waged not with gunfire but with the help of fibre glass boats, tractors with twin motorised winches and other equipment to weed out water hyacinth that has invaded the Harike wetland here.
